Fern Ridge Lake is located 12 miles west of Eugene in Oregon. The lake is impounded by the Fern Ridge Dam which was completed in 1942. Fern Ridge Lake offers activities for every visitor including bird watching and wildlife viewing, fishing, windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, hunting, kayaking, stand up paddling, picking, swimming, and hiking.

The Fern Ridge Wildlife Area has more than 250 species of birds that use the area during different seasons of the year. This makes the wildlife area an excellent birding destination. There are also different types of animals in the area including deer, coyotes, small mammals, and much more.

The majority of the wildlife area and lake area is open year-round for public access. Over 85% of project land and water areas are open daily year-round for all types of public use.

The Coyote Creek Nature Trail sits within the Wildlife Area and provides a great hiking, walking, and nature viewing trail.
