We then proceed to drench every single surface (walls, floors, doorknobs, faucets, light switches, etc.) with Clorox Hospital-grade Germicidal bleach solution. After about 5 minutes, we top everything off with high-potency pharmaceutical-grade colloidial silver prior to applying a finish of hospital-grade viruscidal/microbial/germicidal/tuberculosicidal disinfectant, which air dries for another 5 minutes. Hospital-grade bleach and disinfectant is also used in our guest laundry when we steamwash our linens, blankets, and sheets. Furry four-legged predators are frequently sighted in this area, but we've never spotted any on our property. The cabin and surrounding outdoor area is private and secluded with no neighbors in sight. Our charming log home is just down the hill but is mostly out of sight, and only adds to the magical feel of this very special place. You can just barely see it through the trees from the cabin front window during the Winter months. GETTING AROUND It's easiest to get here and explore the beautiful Oregon countryside by car, or bike if you're a confident rider. There is private outdoor parking for your vehicle in front of the cabin. Storage is available for your bikes and equipment. Once here, there is lots to explore by foot via forest trails, garden pathways, and country roads. Since Cheshire is an unincorporated part of Lane County, there is no public transportation — just a tiny post office and convenience store. The Eugene Airport is only a 10-15 minute drive away. Then another 10-15 minutes to Downtown Eugene, which is very walkable, bike-friendly, and has several great attractions such as the University of Oregon and Saturday Market. Other nearby attractions include the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, World-Class Mountain Biking in Oakridge and Alsea, Oregon State University in Corvallis, and the stunning Oregon Coast is less than an hour away. Poison oak is prolific in these parts. Stick to the trails and always be on the lookout for their glossy green leaves of three. *Potential Noise* It's very peaceful and quiet here. You can hear the wind and the trees, the birds and the bees. Sometimes you can also hear noise from the neighboring farms and vehicles on the nearby roads. There also may be occasional noise from our landscaping equipment. *Stairs* Your private entrance and porch is located atop a flight of stairs. The stunning forest and territorial views are worth the climb. The twin loft bed is only accessible by climbing a wooden ladder and is best-suited for a small flexible adult. *Wildlife* There are birds, bugs, bats, spiders, and a variety of other wildlife living among us. Most everything is friendly and entertaining to watch, but there is always a chance of encountering a pest or a predator. Please be extra aware and let us know if we can help. *Pets* Pets and wildlife roam freely here, so we're unable to accommodate additional animals at this time. We care for three cats and a flock of happy free range forest chickens. We also keep honeybees and feed the birds year round. *Children* The cabin and property are not child-proof or well-suited for children. There are stairs, ladders, steep walkways, high places, fire pits, and other potential hazards. *Visitors* The cabin's maximum occupancy is three adults, but it's best-suited for two. Please refrain from inviting unregistered visitors to our property without prior consent. *Security* Our property is secured by a gated entrance requiring a code or remote to open. In addition, Eugene’s famous river-bike path is just four blocks away. Be aware, however, that urban neighborhoods can get noisy. In addition, this area is Eugene's oldest, most historic neighborhood and attracts a wide range of people. While the house is isolated from the daily foot and street traffic on Blair Blvd., we are close to a park that is an occasional venue for private or public parties. The vast majority of the time, however, it's quiet and peaceful here. We think you'll enjoy it.
